Veloxis Pharmaceuticals and EMD Millipore Sigma provide 6 BTEC scholarships

Six fortunate NC State undergraduates have been awarded BTEC scholarships for the 2023–24 academic year. Veloxis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., headquartered in Cary, N.C., has provided scholarships to four students:

  • Naomi Bouedo, a junior majoring in chemical engineering;
  • Jackson Edwards, a junior majoring in bioprocessing science;
  • Abibatou Sall, a junior majoring in biomedical engineering with a concentration in regenerative medicine; and
  • Aditi Yadav, a junior majoring in chemical engineering and completing a concentration in biomanufacturing sciences.

EMD Millipore Sigma has awarded scholarships to two students:

  • Shelly Aguilar-Garcia, a sophomore majoring in bioprocessing science who is pursuing minors in both microbiology and biomanufacturing; and
  • Joseph (Trey) McCoy – a senior majoring in chemical engineering who is pursuing a concentration in biomanufacturing sciences with a focus on downstream processing.

BTEC scholarships are provided by biomanufacturing and biotechnology firms that agree to a four-year funding commitment. Scholarships, which range from $2,000–$4,500 per year, are awarded to full-time undergraduates who are pursuing BTEC’s minor in biomanufacturing and meet other criteria that may be established by the corporate sponsor. Sponsorships are available at three different levels of support: gold, platinum, and diamond.

Veloxis Pharmaceuticals, a platinum-level sponsor, focuses on the global development and commercialization of medications utilized by transplant patients and by patients with serious related diseases.

A leading supplier to the global life sciences industry, EMD Millipore Sigma provides solutions and services for research, development, and production of biotechnology and pharmaceutical drug therapies. Millipore Sigma is a gold-level sponsor and is represented on the BTEC Advisory Board.

BTEC gratefully acknowledges the support of Veloxis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and EMD Millipore Sigma.
