Competitive students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and enrolled in the undergraduate minor in biomanufacturing have the opportunity to earn a master’s degree at an accelerated pace. Graduate-level senior elective courses in the biomanufacturing curriculum (i.e., 400/500-level courses) can be counted twice to satisfy the requirements of both the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.

Students who wish to complete the Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s degree program must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 and maintain it throughout their senior year. Candidates can apply to the ABM program once they have completed a minimum of 75 credit hours or a maximum of 96 credits.

Who is eligible for the ABM?

The Master of Biomanufacturing has formalized ABM programs with Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry. However, any student with a 3.5 GPA or higher and who is currently part of the undergraduate minor in biomanufacturing is eligible to pursue the ABM. For these students, as long as there is an agreement between the Director of Graduate Programs for Biomanufacturing and the Coordinator of Undergraduate Programs in which the student is obtaining their bachelors, students may pursue the ABM.

Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s Coursework

Courses on this list may change depending on what the student has already taken. For example, if a student has already taken 426 and did not take the course at the graduate level as 526, they will substitute a different BEC or advised elective at the 500-700 level.
