K-12 STEM Partnerships

BTEC partners with various STEM organizations that focus on students and educators in kindergarten through high school to incorporate biomanufacturing topics and activities into existing programs. We offer insight to educational pathways and career opportunities in biomanufacturing and provide training for industry-related labs and activities. The following are programs BTEC supports or has supported in the past:

Educator Workshop on Biomanufacturing

📅 Dates: Aug. 3-4, 2026
📍 Location: Golden LEAF BTEC, Raleigh, NC

An immersive two-day workshop specifically designed for K-12 STEM teachers, counselors, academic or STEM coordinators, STEM or PBL coaches, or those in similar positions. Fifteen educators will be selected to receive training at BTEC’s state-of-the-art facility. Participants will also gain direct industry exposure through a tour of a local pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and attend a career panel. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a stipend are provided.

Industry Professionals Connections

We facilitate introductions between educators and industry professionals interested in supporting educational opportunities, such as career/day-in-the-life insights, mock interviews, resume review, and in-person or virtual guest speaker events. Facility Tours

High schoolers and their parents are invited to sign up for one of the scheduled walk-through tours of BTEC’s simulated CGMP pilot plant facility, featuring more than 43,700 gross square feet of lab training space.

Student Field Trips

BTEC hosts visits by groups of high school students enrolled in classes with a curriculum that includes biomanufacturing or advanced manufacturing principles. Visits typically last 1.5 hours and include a presentation that provides an overview of biomanufacturing and genetic engineering, a hands-on activity and a tour of the facility.
